Supermarkets Match

Supermarkets Match: from layout to XML

Circulate structured content between the database, InDesign templates, images and XML exchanges, within the constraints of regional production.

Translating the charter into usable templates

The Match preparation combined the railway, the integration of the charter at the base and the production of masks according to different promotional schemes. The structure had to make it possible to produce the operations and their variations.

The technical work was coordinated with the DTP and the offshore organization: the rules of the charter had to be understandable by the people who edited the pages, internally and with partners.

Export to expected XML frame

The end-of-document XML export followed the structure expected by Match. The distribution of data in the fields was important: designation and text could not be confused.

An export must return a structured data, true to what has been produced. The requests for an updated XML reference show the need to link the correct version of the content to the relevant document.

Find images beyond the current folder

Image export should also work for archived operations. Processing has been corrected to support folders moved to the archive volume.

This situation illustrates a common integration constraint: the data still exists, but its location or state has changed. The recovery must follow the references and paths actually used by the chain.

Articulate production and manufacturing

Regional variations, prospectus formats, preparation of visuals and proofs added their constraints. Technical exchanges with manufacturing made it possible to bring the structure of the document closer to the printing conditions.

The experience focuses on this continuity: preparing the data, formatting it, exporting it and maintaining the capacity to find the resources necessary for a recovery.

This case study presents the experience of Patrice Salib, founder of Dtouch, acquired at Reymann with the agency's teams and its development and production partners.

Understanding the exchanges

Connect applications and keep exchange control.

Example of a path with deferred processing: the connector prepares the data, organizes their transfer and keeps the results of the exchanges for monitoring and recovery.
